Home Again After Six Years
Six years ago I sold a guitar: a small Ibanez PN1, a parlor somewhere between a size 0 and a 00. Not a particularly fancy instrument, I own a few that are a lot better. But after a while I started missing it and regretted letting it go.
So I set up a saved search on a local online marketplace. And then nothing happened. For six years. Until last week, a listing popped up, just around the corner. My first thought: could that actually be mine?
It was. When I picked it up today, I recognized it immediately. I had sanded the neck down slightly back then to make it play smoother, and you feel that the moment you pick it up. And there was the TUSQ saddle I installed myself to replace the stock plastic one, still in place. The guy I sold it to had passed it on in the meantime, and after a little detour, it found its way back to me.
Yes, I paid more than I got for it back then. I don't care one bit. It's back.
To celebrate, there's a short video: "Lost Highway", played fingerstyle. The song was written by Leon Payne and made famous by Hank Williams. A fitting title for a guitar that spent six years on the road.
